CELCOM (M) Bhd has reported a 127% jump in profit after tax to RM84.9mil for its first quarter ended March 31 from RM37.4mil in the corresponding period of last year.
Its group chief executive officer Datuk Ramli Abbas attributed the strong performance mainly to lower operating costs as a result of the company's manpower rationalisation programme and lower finance costs stemming from the debt restructuring exercise completed in April 2002.
