Perodua confident of getting Toyota MPV deal

UMW Holdings Bhd’s unit Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) believes it is in a strong position to win a contract to assemble a new multi-purpose vehicle for Toyota Motor Corp of Japan, a Perodua company source said.

“Negotiations are under way and, if all goes well, Perodua should start assembling the new Unser replacement model at its plant early next year,” a Perodua company source said. The new multi-purpose vehicle is a replacement for Toyota's current Unser model and is scheduled for launch next year, he added.
