AT the end of February 2003, there were about 1,200 certified financial planners (CFP) in Malaysia. A rough calculation I did suggests our country can comfortably accommodate 6,000 credentialed financial planning professionals.
Even with the excellent job the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia is doing in raising the awareness of financial planning services throughout our country and in training high-quality planners, it will be many years before that gap is whittled down.
