HONG KONG: Cathay Pacific Airways issued its first-ever profit warning yesterday as the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus and the Iraq war cut passenger traffic by a third.
Australia’s Qantas Airways and German carrier Lufthansa have already warned that their bottom lines would come under pressure as the war and SARS wreak havoc on the industry, and analysts said other airlines may follow suit.
