WASHINGTON: Diamonds that finance and fan African civil wars would be banned from US import and export under a bill passed by the House of Representatives this week.
The bill, passed by a 419-2 vote, enters the United States into an international agreement that bans trade in so-called conflict diamonds. The Senate Finance Committee had approved a similar bill last week.
