TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corp, Japans biggest automaker, said it has signed a deal to expand its alliance with Chinese counterpart First Automotive Works (FAW), including the construction of a new plant in China.
The companies said in a joint statement yesterday they would build a plant in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin to produce cars based on Toyotas Crown luxury model from 2005, with output targeted initially at 50,000 vehicles a year.
