THE local information technology (IT) sector now a US$2.2bil industry could double in size to US$4.4bil by 2006 if software piracy rates were reduced 10%.
In fact, Malaysia stands to realise one of the largest benefits in the region from such a reduction in the form of new high-tech, high-wage jobs and new businesses, according to a study by International Data Corp (IDC).
