SYDNEY: Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is standing once again on the threshold of the crowning deal of his career, and this time it looks like he’s the only bidder.
The deal, giving Murdoch control of long-coveted US satellite pay-TV network DirecTV and securing the last piece of his global satellite puzzle, could cost as much as US$7bil – less than a third of what he was thought to be prepared to pay for the broadcaster two years ago.
