SARAWAK Construction Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the diversified KTS Group, has been awarded a RM10mil contract to build the proposed city campus of United College Sarawak (UCS) in Sibu.

The campus project on a 2.8 ha, at the old airport site, is expected to be completed by March next year for the May student intake.

Sarawak Infrastructure Development and Communication Minister Datuk Wong Soon Koh, who launched the project last Saturday, said the city campus could accommodate up to 2,500 students.

The college is the biggest in central Sarawak.

Wong said courses offered by the college include quantity survey, architecture, electronic engineering and business administration.

“The college plans to introduce maritime courses to meet regional industrial demands,” he added.

Sanyan Group, which donated the land for the campus project, will build eight blocks of hostels that can accommodate some 500 students.
