THE memorandum of agreement (MoA) to accord Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON) “super dealer'' status, announced by Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Bhd (Proton) on Monday, is a compromise formula between the two companies given EON's reluctance to share in the development cost of new Proton car models.
Under the MoA, EON loses its status as a Proton distributor for not contributing to the development cost of new Proton vehicles. Previously, both EON and Proton Edar Sdn Bhd were joint Proton distributors, but under the MoA, Proton Edar becomes the sole Proton distributor and EON a “super dealer” under Proton Edar.
