HONG KONG: Sales of new equity and equity-related securities in Asia sank nearly 60% in the first quarter this year as worries over the impact of the Iraq war on regional economies kept investors away from markets.
But Asian initial public offering (IPO) activity, excluding Japan, was nonetheless about eight times higher than in the United States in the same period, new data from Thomson Financial showed yesterday.
