PRIMARY Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said there is a need to seriously look into the decline in rubber area in the country and that operators should allocate at least 10% to 20% of total plantation land for rubber trees.
He said that much of the land in the previous estate sector had been converted from rubber to oil palm as profitability determines the types of crops planted.
