CONTINUED strong interest in British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (BAT) lifted its share price to a record high of RM39 yesterday.

The counter slipped back a little in the last minute of trading to end the week at RM38.75, but that still represented a gain of RM3 or 8.4% over its low of RM35.75 seen on Feb 24, indicating that investors are continuing to seek shelter in defensive stocks like BAT in times of uncertainty.
