Auto parts better bet than car manufacturers

AFTER consecutive years of high growth, auto part manufacturers are about to witness a period of consolidation. The Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA) expects a 3.5 per cent growth in sales to 450,000.  

However, vehicle sales for January 2003 indicate flat growth year-on-year and thus, industry players as well as industry observers have taken a conservative view. But, most remain optimistic about the long-term prospects of the industry.
