SHORT messaging service (SMS) raked in an estimated RM300mil revenue for local telecommunications firms last year. With almost two billion short messages recorded last year, Energy, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Leo Moggie said he expected the local mobile data market to continue to experience exponential growth this year.
“Mobile data is one of the fastest growing segments in the communications sector. The participation of media companies as content providers will contribute positively towards the development of the local communications and multimedia industry,'' Moggie said.
