Strong aviation earnings help lift Swire Pacific 2002 net profit


HONG KONG: Swire Pacific Ltd, one of Hong Kong's oldest trading houses and also one of its major commercial landlords, reported a 31.1% jump in annual net profit yesterday as higher contributions from its aviation business offset weaker property earnings. 

For the year ended December 2002, the conglomerate earned HK$5.4bil compared with HK$4.12bil the prior year. Group turnover edged up marginally to HK$15.22bil.
