MASKargo, the cargo division of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), has won the 3rd place in Asias Best Air Cargo Carrier category in the 2003 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs).
The top spot went to Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Cargo and the 2nd place to Seoul-based Korean Air Cargo. Singapore Airlines Cargo took 4th spot after MASKargo.
The annual AFSCAs were organised by the publishers of Cargonews Asia/Logistics Asia/Cargonews China, a widely-read Hong Kong-based fortnightly transportation and logistics trade publication.
The awards are divided into various categories related to transportation and logistics across Asia and the world. They are designed to honour the respective winning organisations for demonstrating leadership
as well as consistency in service quality, continuous innovation, customer relationship management, reliability and a strong company mission.
Nomination for the awards was from Sept 2 to Oct 7, 2002.
The KL International Airport (KLIA) has won the 2nd place in the Emerging airport less than 500,000 tonnes/yr for Asia category.
Chinas Haikou Airport in Hainan won the top award with Macao International Airport in 3rd position after the KLIA.
Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Johor won 3rd placing in the Best Seaport Category for Asia with the Port of Hong Kong in 1st place and the Port of Singapore coming in 2nd.
But PTP was 2nd in the Best Container Terminal Operator Awards for Asia behind Modern Terminals Ltd of Hong Kong. In the 3rd place was PSA Corp, Singapore.
Westport in Port Klang was placed 4th in the Emerging Container Terminal Operator Awards for Asia.
Guangzhou Container Terminal, China, won the top spot followed by Jurong Port of Singapore in 2nd position and Shekou Container Terminal, China, 3rd.
KTM (Kereta Tanah Melayu) won the 3rd spot in the Best Rail Operator Award with China Railways Corp in 1st place and KCR (Kowloon-Canton Railway Corp) in the 2nd place.
