HONG KONG: Hong Kong is hiking corporate and personal taxes for the first time in nearly 20 years in a bid to curb its huge budget deficit.
In making the announcement in his annual budget address yesterday, Financial Secretary Antony Leung warned that if the budget deficit continued to deteriorate, investors would lose confidence and pull money out of the territory.
