TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) - Taiwan's benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at its lowest level since October, hit by overnight losses in the United States and by fears that a water shortage will eventually hurt production at technology firms.
The benchmark index of the Taiwan Stock Exchange fell 81.58 points, or 1.81 percent, to end at 4418.11, its lowest since Oct. 22, when the index finished at 4386.46.
