THE full conversion to Bankcard, the new chip-based multipurpose card replacing the existing magnetic strip automated teller machine (ATM) cards nationwide, is targeted for the end of June this year.
Malaysian Electronic Payment System (1997) Sdn Bhd (MEPS) chairman Datuk Amirsham A. Aziz said domestic financial institutions were currently undertaking an accelerated card conversion exercise and all ATM machines accepting the magnetic strip cards would be disabled in early July.
