MELBOURNE: Australian Stock Exchange Ltd (ASX) announced yesterday an 11% rise in first-half profit, topping analysts' forecasts on strong growth in options business as investors scampered for protection in volatile markets.
But ASX, one of three listed stock exchanges in Asia besides the Singapore Exchange and the Hong Kong bourse, said the outlook was subdued and declined to predict how trading volumes would fare in the second half-year.
