NOW that Computer Recovery Centre Sdn Bhd (CRC) has received its MS ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems certification it plans to branch out into synergistic business areas such as high availability solutions, network services and other related outsourcing services.

“This certification is a key factor in winning new customers, maintaining satisfied current customers and venturing into new industry sectors,” said CRC general manager Andy Yau.

CRC was awarded the certification by Sirim QAS Sdn Bhd last month for its business continuity solutions, data centre facility management and related services.

CRC, established in 1989 as a joint venture company between SCS Computer Systems Sdn Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd and SunGard (USA), provides data centre services, facilities management services, disaster recovery services, consulting, offsite storage, technology infrastructure planning services, and Internet-based server-hosting services.

“Malaysian companies face daily challenges of maintaining business operability,” Yau said. “This can be a daunting task even during ordinary times, with ever changing environments and the need to adapt continuously to ensure that any business remains viable and be ahead of competition at all times.

Yau said the certification would benefit its customers in improved efficiency in management control, organisational planning, customer satisfaction and consistency of services.

“Improvements in our disaster recovery facility services, off-site tape storage, purchasing, sales, security and customer testing areas are foreseen with a more systematic approach to managing these processes. All our customers will now be assured that this certification will also meet their own requirements of having suppliers who are accredited to ISO global standards to enable them to carry out and deliver their own products and services that are compliant to globally accepted reference standards,” Yau said.
