Digi.com Bhd has posted an after-tax profit of RM100.9mil for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2002, compared with RM158.9mil for the preceding eight-month financial period.

The company said in a statement yesterday that it made a pre-tax profit of RM145.77mil for the year, while pre-tax profit for the fourth quarter came in at RM34.164mil.

However, the net earnings figure was affected by higher depreciation and amortisation expense and deferred taxation expense, it said.

Digi said depreciation and amortisation expense for the financial year stood at RM281mil –RM184.4mil higher than that for the preceding eight-month financial period of RM96.6mil.

Deferred taxation expense was RM44.9mil compared with the deferred taxation income of RM37mil recorded in the preceding eight months, it added.

“We are pleased with the results, as the margin for earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) improved to 37.5% (RM483.1mil) for the current financial year as compared with 34% (RM253.9mil) for the preceding eight-month financial period,” said DiGi chief operating officer Tore Johnsen. – Bernama
