I RECENTLY returned from a client-servicing and marketing trip to Singapore. Based on the numerous people I spoke to, and upon direct observation, the island republic’s retail economy doesn’t appear to be in the best of health.
The pervasive slowdown seems to have hit Singapore’s textile industry especially hard. There appears to be insufficient cloth at the disposal of local fashion moguls to allow many of the young ladies I saw on Orchard Road the luxury of covering their midriffs!
