SEOUL: The world’s top shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co, said yesterday it had returned to profit in 2002, helped by a rise in orders for offshore plants and engineering projects.
The company posted a net profit of 43.4 billion won (US$37.1mil) for 2002 versus a net loss of 78.1 billion won a year earlier. Sales increased to 8.1 trillion won from 7.4 trillion. No separate figures for the fourth quarter were given.
