HEALTHCARE-based Pharmaforte (M) Sdn Bhd has been granted exclusive rights by Bayer Diagnostics, a division of Bayer (M) Sdn Bhd, to market and distribute its entire range of diabetes monitoring systems in Peninsular Malaysia.
Pharmaforte managing director, Yeo Chin Ann said that with the marketing rights, we hope to significantly expand our presence in the local diabetes care market as we strive to be the total solutions provider for diabetes monitoring.
Among the Bayer diabetes monitoring systems to be marketed by Pharmaforte are the newly launched Ascensia ESPRIT 2, the existing Ascensia ELITE and the DCA 2000 analyser for HBA1c and urine microalbumin testing.
Yeo said Pharmaforte was targeting to grow in tandem with the healthcare market, the size of which was currently RM1.4bil and slated to grow by 10% to 12% next year.
Last year, Pharmaforte registered sales of RM30mil, he told reporters after the launch of Bayer's latest glucose monitoring meter Ascensia ESPRIT 2 and the Pharmaforte-Bayer Diagnostics partnership announcement in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Set up in 1995, Pharmaforte provides value-added buying, merchandising and marketing services for a wide range of medical devices, hospital products and other therapeutics to over 5,000 clinics, retail pharmacies, government and private hospitals and other medical organisations.
The company currently employs 70 people and markets its products via a nationwide sales network.
Yeo said: Through our working partnerships with world-class companies like Bayer Diagnostics, we are confident that high-quality product such as Ascensia ESPRIT could help improve the health and quality of life for Malaysians.
According to Yeo, the newly-launched Ascensia ESPRIT 2 features a unique 10-test sensor cartridge that makes it the most convenient blood glucose meter developed for the individual user. It eliminates the inconvenience of having to fumble with individual test strips, he said.
Apart from the partnership with Bayer Diagnotics, Pharmaforte's expanding healthcare franchises include well-known names like Apotex Inc of Canada, Om Pharma ICN AG of Switzerland, Menarini of Italy, Britain-based Amersham Health, and Japan's Tanabe Seiyaku, Biken, Nikken and Nipro.
