WASHINGTON: US market regulators have voted to crack down on misleading financial reports by corporations and on insider sales of company stock by managers when rank-and-file workers are locked out of the market.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in unanimous votes on all measures, has also cleared a rule to compel corporations to beef up the financial expertise of their audit committees and to make sure they have codes of ethics for top executives.
