Oil up 1% as Mideast tensions offset US inflation worries


Brent futures rose 61 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at US$77.41 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 65 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at US$72.02.

NEW YORK: Oil prices gained about 1% on Thursday after Iran seized an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, raising the prospect of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
