Stomach flu strikes hundreds of QE 2 passengers

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it was notified by Cunard Line, owner of the Queen Elizabeth 2, on Jan. 11 that some passengers had fallen ill with symptoms associated with norovirus, a virus responsible for gastroenteritis marked by stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea that last two to three days.

Bird flu outbreak spreads in Vietnam's Mekong Delta

Three outbreaks spotted between Dec. 11 and Dec. 20 in Ca Mau province killed over 2,500 chickens and ducks, while one in neighbouring Bac Lieu province killed dozens of ducks, the ministry's Animal Health Department said in a report on Thursday.

South Korea culls 236,000 poultry to halt bird flu

The Agriculture Ministry will cull all poultry within a 500-metre radius of a farm in North Cholla province about 170 km from Seoul where officials said on the weekend the avian influenza strain had been detected.
