JAKARTA: (Bernama) Indonesia will continue to pursue diplomatic engagement and humanitarian support for Gaza through the Board of Peace (BoP), as fighting escalates in the enclave.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto had conveyed Indonesia’s position through diplomatic channels, adding that it was delivered "through closed channels.”
He stressed that Indonesia’s involvement in the platform reflects its broader commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts for Gaza and Palestine.
"We are concerned (about the attack), and we will continue to make efforts, because that is part of our commitment as the Indonesian nation to help our brothers and sisters in Gaza and in Palestine. So that’s how it is,” he told reporters on Monday (Feb 2). Video of his remarks was shared online.
On Jan 22, Indonesia and several other nations, including Israel, signed the Board of Peace’s charter in Davos, at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.
Other signatories include Hungary, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Responding to calls by the Indonesian Ulema Council (Majelis Ulama Indonesia, MUI) for Indonesia to reconsider its participation or even withdraw, Prasetyo said the government would soon hold dialogue with the group. - Bernama
