PHNOM PENH (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration of Cambodia has announced strict measures that aim to eradicate technology-based crimes from the province.

In a notification letter released on Sunday (January 18), provincial governor Peng Posa informed the owners of licensed casinos, apartments, guesthouses, hotels and other rental properties that the provincial administration is strictly implementing the orders of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

He explained that the Provincial Administrative Unity Command requests their honest cooperation. They were asked to cooperate by reporting all suspicious cases to the Provincial, Town or and District Administrative Unity Commands as quickly as possible.

"Do not accommodate foreigners who lack documentation or groups suspected of involvement in online scams who are fleeing from other regions or nearby buildings,” Posa said.

He instructed rental property owners to immediately stop renting to individuals or groups identified as targets of online scam operations in any form.

“In cases of concealment, providing false information or lying to cover up online scam groups, the provincial administration will take legal action without exception against the owners of the offending locations,” he added.

He also requested citizens and local authorities at all levels to cooperate by providing information regarding suspicious cases to ensure the cleanup is effective.
