EU welcomes Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire, praises Asean role


PHNOM PENH: The European Union has welcomed the ceasefire agreement signed between Cambodia and Thailand, urging both sides to fully implement the deal in good faith.

In a Dec 27 statement, EU spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Anouar El Anouni (pic) noted that the bloc appreciated Asean’s positive role in helping achieve the agreement.

"The EU welcomes the ceasefire agreement signed today by Cambodia and Thailand and calls on both sides to implement it in good faith,” he said.

He added that the EU stands ready to provide any necessary support to ensure lasting peace. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
