COLOMBO: (Bernama-Xinhua) Sri Lanka will provide compensation of up to 25 per cent of total losses incurred to more than 400 factories damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, reported Xinhua.

The Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development said on Friday that as an immediate relief measure, owners of 416 manufacturing and export factories affected by the cyclone have been instructed to submit their loss assessments by Dec 16.

The ministry said the highest number of affected facilities was in the districts of Gampaha, Colombo, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matara, Kandy, and Batticaloa.

To support rebuilding efforts, the government has allocated three billion rupees (about US$10 million) in non-repayable subsidies for impacted industries. - Bernama-Xinhua
