YANGON: Local experts have successfully developed Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVM) for use in the 2025 multiparty democratic general election. After the machines were submitted for quality and standards verification, the National Standards Council formed a 20-member Technical Subcommittee to draft the necessary standards.

The subcommittee completed the MEVM draft standard, which was formally approved by the council as a Myanmar Standard under Notification 075/2025 on 2 September 2025, in accordance with Section 5(b) and the authority granted by Section 33(b) of the Law on Standardization.

In addition, the council established an Electrical, Electronic, and ICT Inspection Committee under Notification 083/2025 to assess whether the MEVMs and their production process complied with the required standards.

Following all assessments, the MEVM has passed every evaluation. It has now received formal recognition as a Myanmar Standard (MMS), a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from the National Certification Committee (NCC), and a licence to use the MMS Standard Mark issued by the National Certification Body (NCB). - Eleven Media/ANN
