Four people killed in accidental blast at police station in northern India: Reports


MOSCOW: At least four people were killed in an explosion that rocked the Nowgam police station in the Jammu and Kashmir region of northern India during a police inspection, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti quoting a Hindustan Times newspaper report on Saturday (Nov 15), citing officials.

The accidental explosion occurred late on Friday night, during the extraction of samples from a seized cache of explosives, the officials said.

At least four people were killed and 27 others, mostly police officers and forensic officials, were injured.

The Nowgam police station was damaged in the explosion, which occurred while personnel were handling the seized explosive material as part of an ongoing investigation, the Hindustan Times specified. - Bernama-Sputnik/Ria Novosti
