Indonesia needs US$175bil investment to meet power demand over next decade

JAKARTA: Indonesia will need an estimated 2,900 trillion rupiah (about US175 billion) in investment over the next 10 years to meet its electricity supply needs, with the majority expected to come from the private sector, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said on Wednesday (Oct 29).

"For the next 10 years, we are targeting approximately 2,900 trillion rupiah in total investment, and 70 per cent of that will come from the private sector," M. Pradana Indrasaputra, special staff to the energy minister for strategic issue resolution, said at Indonesia's Road to Mining Day 2025 event.
