Meet 'Lobster Wellington', the current specialist food craze at Ombak Kitchen, the top Cajun seafood boil specialist in town


Welcome to Ombak Kitchen, the well-liked and well-known seafood restaurant that offers the best of shrimps and mussels for foodie lovers. And they have stepped up the palate for the foodies as they are the first restaurant chain to offer the famous 'Lobster Wellington' dish with a Malaysian flavour to savour.

The well-liked and well-known restaurant first started in Bukit Jelutong and then opened up in Bangsar, Shah Alam and then Putrajaya. It also has a branch in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and aims to serenade the city folks with their seafood fare in Setapak (The Palette @ The Ark).

And with the arrival of its Lobster Wellington served with creamy Jalapeño sauce to their menu, seafood lovers can now just enjoy the best of seafood fare, including the restaurant's much-loved king crab dishes together with prawns, octopus, calamari, mussels and many kinds of seafood fare that are found in our region.

But the current talk for the Ombak Kitchen fans has to be the Lobster Wellington dish. Just like its more famous Beef Wellington fare, the Lobster Wellington dish in this restaurant is indeed one to savour for the foodies.

For the record, Lobster Wellington is an elegant dish consisting of cooked lobster meat, often mixed with a creamy spinach and mushroom duxelles or mousse, wrapped in puff pastry and baked until golden. To prepare it, lobster tails are typically blanched and removed from their shells, then arranged on a layer of the filling spread over puff pastry, which is then folded and sealed around the lobster. The pastry is brushed with an egg wash for a glossy finish and baked to a beautiful golden-brown.

But it comes with a difference and special touch by itself in Ombak Kitchen.

"It is quite a famous dish in the west. But we wanted to give a touch of our taste to this special dish," said Group CEO Sharita Loo.

"We want to make it a special taste that seafood lovers will not find anywhere. And our puff on top of the is a special croissant that is made by our chefs.

Muhammad Izwan, the head chef at the Bangsar outlet, added that the best ingredients and sauces are used to prepare the Lobster Wellington.

"We want our customers to have a meal that they will enjoy and talk about for a long time. It has a taste that has been prepared with love and patience, especially for our customers and seafood lovers," said Muhammad Izwan.

And let's not forget Ombak Kitchen's famous sauces that have won the taste buds of seafood lovers.

Their speciality sauces, including Ombak Hot Cajun Sauce, Dark Chilli Chocolate Sauce and Creamy Lemon Butter Sauce, are available to go with the seafood offering that comes in three types -- mild, medium and very spicy.
