HANOI: Vietnamese consumers will soon be able to choose their electricity retailers as the country restructures its power sector to promote competition and transparency, the local media VNExpress reported.

The reform allows for the implementation of direct power purchase agreements and aims to separate retail activities from the state-run enterprise Vietnam Electricity, which currently holds a monopoly.
