Significant quake strikes Mandalay for second consecutive day

YANGON: A significant earthquake struck Mandalay at around 10.51am on Thursday (Sept 4), marking the second consecutive day of earthquakes.

“This morning’s earthquake was as strong as the one on March 28. It was lucky that it happened so soon. People were rushing out of their homes. People are already feeling very tired because of the earthquake,” said a Mandalay resident.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale, was 10 kilometers deep, and was centered about seven miles west-southwest of Kyaukse. The magnitude was also reported as 4.10. - Eleven Media/ANN
