Myanmar junta, rebels trade blame for damage of iconic bridge

YANGON: Myanmar’s military government and a rebel group it’s fighting traded blame Monday (Aug 25) for damage to an iconic colonial-era train bridge that connects the northern Shan state to the second biggest city of Mandalay.

Major General Zaw Min Tun, chief spokesman of the National Defense and Security Council, said the group damaged the structure with mines.
