HANOI: Head to The Note Coffee in the heart of Hanoi and you will find the walls papered in Post-its in every colour. You can actually barely see the walls.
Some have greetings, some offer philosophical musings and some share hearts.
Each person who goes to the cafe is invited to leave their mark too, by writing a message to the world on a simple Post-it.
Where you put it is entirely up to you.
The café's owners say nearly 1 million customers have left their messages on Post-its so far.
Walls, staircases, tables and even ceilings are covered with them.
Whether heart-shaped notes, rainbow-coloured ones or those decorated with flowers, and whether written in German, English, French or Vietnamese, the messages from around the world are vibrant and global.
And they are full of love, with many declaring their affection to significant others.
Pictures of the photogenic café, which spans several floors, are all over Instagram, while the outlet has tens of thousands of followers.
The cafe's location contributes to its popularity among visitors from around the world, who come to take photos and leave Post-its. It is just a few metres from Hoan Kiem Lake, with its famous red Huc Bridge.
The picturesque lake, which connects several districts, is considered the tourist centre of Hanoi.
While sipping their coffee, guests can not only admire the Post-its but also enjoy the view of the old town through the café's large open windows.
And the coffee is delicious. On the menu are international classics like caramel cappuccino and espresso to Vietnamese specialities such as coconut latte or "egg coffee," made with egg yolk, sugar, condensed milk and robusta coffee, served either hot or iced.
The coconut latte, in particular, was simply divine. - dpa
