HANOI: Doctors of the Central Military Hospital 108 spent nine hours on an intense surgery to remove a tumour and reconstruct the face for a 16-year-old girl from a difficult, remote area in northern Vietnam.

The girl – living in Pung Luong Commune, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai – suffered from a rare condition called mandibular ameloblastoma, which is a type of non-cancerous tumour.
