New tourism boom for Brunei as its underwater ecosystem attracts international divers

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): The clarity of Brunei waters, diverse marine life and untouched nature of the country's underwater ecosystems have impressed divers from Australia, Brunei's Tourism Development Department has said.

According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, the department recently played host to a group of 11 Australian dive tour operators on a diving familiarisation (FAM) trip to Brunei.

The FAM trip offered key players in Australia's dive travel industry the opportunity to experience Brunei's underwater attractions first-hand and to explore the development of exclusive dive packages tailored specifically for the Australian market.

Brunei aims to stimulate renewed interest and drive sustainable growth in its dive tourism industry. Australia remains a high-potential source market for niche travel segments such as diving and eco-adventure.

With growing interest from travellers seeking less-explored destinations, Brunei stands ready to offer high-quality, sustainable marine tourism. - Xinhua
