Father and Grade 11 daughter killed, mother injured in stabbing attack in Myanmar


YANGON: Three family members were stabbed in their house in Hpa-an, Kayin State, leaving the father and his Grade 11 daughter dead and the mother seriously injured, according to residents.

A resident of Hpa-an said that at around 3 am on July 13, three family members were stabbed in a house on Yay Kyaw Aung Mingalar Street, Ward No.9, Hpa-an, and that the father and his Grade 11 daughter died inside the house.

He continued, “The mother also suffered stab wounds and was taken to Hpa-an General Hospital by the social assistance and rescue team. The injuries are also serious.”

He said that he heard that the three family members were stabbed by a neighbour, but it is not known for what reason.

A neighbour who allegedly stabbed the man and his daughter to death has been arrested and an investigation is underway, according to sources close to the security forces. - Eleven Media/ANN
