VIENTIANE: Laos and South Korea have agreed to dispatch Lao workers to Incheon city under a seasonal worker programme, providing Lao workers with modern skills and experience while supporting South Korea's agricultural labor needs.

Representatives from Laos and South Korea met on Thursday (July 10) to discuss expanding cooperation, particularly in the dispatch of Lao workers to South Korea for seasonal employment, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare on Friday (July 11).

The meeting highlighted the South Korean government's continued support in creating job opportunities for Lao workers, especially in the agricultural sector.

These opportunities help Lao workers gain modern skills, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to national development.

The Lao government also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity through the use of technology and skills development, with a focus on supporting rural communities. - Xinhua
