MANILA: Mindanao, the Philippines’ second biggest island group, is blessed with natural beauty. Think lush forests and pristine beaches, verdant mountains and dramatic waterfalls. It’s also a melting pot of cultures—an intersection of artistic and culinary heritage. No wonder it has earned the nickname “Land of Promise.”

It is also a hub for renewable energy development, with potential in hydropower, geothermal energy, and solar projects. However, Mindanao still faces challenges in balancing its energy transition with social and environmental considerations, according to the Global Energy Monitor.
