Horror in central Philippines after seven govt employees are dead and 16 others hurt in tragic road accident


MANILA (Xinhua): Seven local government employees were killed and 16 others injured when a mini dump truck overturned in Silay city, Negros Occidental province, in the central Philippines on Friday morning, local officials said.

The victims, all personnel of the Silay city government, were returning from an environmental activity when the truck fell on its side along a concrete road in Barangay Guimbalaon.

Authorities said the driver appeared to have lost control of the steering wheel before the vehicle flipped.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. - Xinhua
