QUANG NINH, (Vietnam): Two teenagers were killed and three others hospitalised after they suffered an electric shock at a beach bar in northern Vietnam early Wednesday (June 25) morning.
The incident happened around 1am at Bistro Fou, a beachfront bar in Bai Chay Ward, Halong City, Quang Ninh Province.
According to officials, the five victims – all employees of the bar – were cleaning a water feature in front of the main stage area when the shock occurred.
All five were reportedly standing in water at the time.
Witnesses shut off the electricity and pulled the victims out before calling emergency services. By the time medical responders arrived, all five were unconscious.
Emergency personnel administered aid for approximately 30 minutes.
Two victims, identified as T.Q.T and T.D.H, both 17, and residents of Duong Huy Commune in Cam Pha City, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two were students of a high school in Cam Pha City and they took up the job at the bar as it was summer break.
The three surviving workers – Nguyen Tien Dat (16), Nguyen Chinh Nghia (17), and Dang Kien Cuong (17), regained consciousness and were transferred to Bai Chay Hospital for treatment.
The bar has been shut as investigation into the incident is ongoing. - Vietnam News/ANN
