Nationwide Recycling Day concludes World Environment Day 2025 celebrations

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRE) at the Ministry of Development, held a Nationwide Recycling Day simultaneously in all four districts to draw the World Environment Day 2025 Celebration to a close.

Collection points were set up at the JASTRE Anggerek Office and Taman Rekreasi Mini Perayaan Kampong Parit in the Brunei-Muara District; the JASTRE Tutong Branch Office in the Tutong District; the JASTRE Belait Branch Office in the Belait District; and the Taman Rekreasi Muhibbah Parking Area, Pekan Bangar, in the Temburong District.

The initiative was organised in collaboration with local recycling companies.

A total of 1,918.6kg of paper waste, 669.6kg of cardboard, 469.35kg of plastic bottles, 392.3 litres of used cooking oil, 62 lithium batteries, 578 units of electronic waste, and 929 used items were collected for recycling.

The initiative is one of the government’s efforts to increase public awareness and participation in practicing recycling habits, in addition to introducing recycling services available in the country. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
