SINGAPORE: A 30-year-old male foreigner suspected of drug trafficking offences was arrested by officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Thursday (June 12).
In a media release on Saturday (June 14), the bureau said its officers had approached the man who was on his e-bike during an operation launched in the vicinity of Bendemeer Road on the evening of June 10.
Upon seeing the officers, the man abandoned his e-bike and fled. During the pursuit, he was seen discarding a bag into Kallang River.
Officers subsequently retrieved the bag from the river and found it contained about 2,004g of cannabis and 518g of Ice (methamphetamine).

CNB established the identity of the 30-year-old man and carried out a follow-up operation on the afternoon of June 12, which saw him arrested at the entrance of a condominium in the vicinity of Kampong Eunos.
He was escorted to his residence in the condominium, where various drug paraphernalia were seized.
Anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 250g of methamphetamine or more than 500g of cannabis may face the mandatory death penalty.
